A computer science degree abroad can be very expensive. This can be due to tuition fees alone. On top of this, there are rent, flight, and visa costs.
This month is a busy time for applications. Chevening has now closed. ETH Zurich has a deadline of 30th November 2026. Erasmus Mundus programmes are closing one by one as we approach January. Hungary and Türkiye have not announced new dates yet.
These dates were checked in November 2026. Double-check all dates on the official website.
What Does ‘Fully Funded’ Normally Include?
- Tuition fees waived completely.
- Monthly living expenses (a stipend).
- Return flights.
- Accommodation or health insurance.
- Set-up costs or visa fees.
Most scholarships will not fully fund everyone. Some will cover tuition fees but not fully cover living costs. Erasmus Mundus only fully funds the top-ranked applicants.
These scholarships are not specific to computer science. They can be used to study CS. Most are open to any subject, so you just need to find a CS programme.

Common Mistakes
1. Ignoring Multiple Deadlines
Some guide websites state different deadlines. For example, ETH has two different dates. Always check the official page. Remember to check the time zone.
2. Submitting Only One Application When More Are Required
Some scholarships require more than one application. Hungary requires you to be nominated, while Chevening requires you to have an offer from a university.
3. Assuming Fully Funded Means Everything Is Covered
Hungary’s stipend does not fully cover living costs. Always check what each scholarship covers to know how much you will need to budget.
